Maria Munro, President of the LRCC said that ‘It is imperative that we recognize a few of our very good men who are always a part of our vision and mission. We appreciate the men who work with us, who support us and who are fine examples of manhood and brotherly care. These men who are loving husbands and caring fathers even as they work towards being consummate professionals. These men serve our region, our community, city and our Chamber and they promote and enhance our business and commerce. These men, provide for their household and extended family and they give of their time and talents so generously and effortlessly.’’.
The men graciously accepted their awards and underscored the importance of service to their community, pledged their continued support and participation and detailed their willingness to mentor young people and work with them.
One interesting note was that Awardee, Ken Lewis Esq had as his personal guest, Miss Shirley Miller, the first female Judge to sit on the Jamaican bench and who was his mentor. The members and guests also learnt intimate details of the awardees’ lives, dreams and early expectations. Members were also delighted that so many of the awardees wanted to be pilots or aspired to other areas of study which were, in many cases, different from their present vocation.
This highly inspirational and motivational breakfast, chaired by Melissa Dunn, the LRCC’s energetic Marketing Chairperson, had as its Guest Speaker, Sandra Foland, co-founder of Baron Sign Manufacturing who traced her early beginnings in the company and shared her powerful personal story of being a cancer survivor to a receptive and attentive audience.
The Breakfast was sponsored by The Galleon Foundation with table sponsors being Servpro of Sunrise and Harrell’s Fine Fashions for Men.
